This is a really great question and a really important one if you want the perfect tan. Your pre tan prep plays a big part in how well your tan turns out once you leave The Tanning Boutique.
Four steps to the perfect tan:
- Preen Prior
A few things you want to do in the lead up to getting your tan are exfoliating and moisturising. Choose a really nourishing moisturiser, preferably one that is not oil based. Our go to moisturiser at The Tanning Boutique is Black Magic’s Nourish. You can use it before and after your tan to make it last as long as possible. It also comes with an SPF 15 to protect your skin when out in the sun.
Another thing you want to do which ties in with the exfoliating is to remove any spray tan or fake tan from your skin from a previous tanning sesh. If you leave this on, it can give a patchy look.
Next up, you want to get all your other beauty treatments out of the way before you come for a spray tan. Think about nails, hair and waxing – All of these things are best before you come for a tan. Chemicals from getting your nails done can strip the tan on your fingers, hair dye can remove the tan from your face and waxing is best done with a 24 hour window before your tan so it doesn’t get stuck in your pores.
Finally, on the day of your tan, make sure you arrive freshly showered. This means you need to remove all your make-up and make sure you’re not wearing any moisturiser, deodorant or perfume. A blank canvas is what makes for the best tan.
It sounds like a lot to remember, but once you’ve had your first spray tan, it will all start to feel like second nature!
See you soon,
